• Realme U1₹ 11,999, the selfie-focused smartphone that was launched late last month, has received up to Rs. 1,500 instant discount in India. The discount will be available through Amazon India between December 21 and January 2. Also, it is valid only on purchases made through HDFC Bank debit and credit card EMI transactions. The new development comes just days after Realme started selling the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant of the Realme U1 through an open sale via Amazon India. It also makes the competition tougher for the Honor 8C that is strongly competing against the latest Realme handset.
  As announced through a tweet on Thursday, the Realme U1 will be available with up to Rs. 1,500 instant discount via HDFC Bank debit and credit card EMI transactions. The new offer will be live from December 21 to January 2.
  It is worth noting here that while the Realme U1 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant will be available with the instant discount starting December 21, the sale of the Realme U1 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model will go live with the discount at 12pm on December 26 - which is when the discount will be applicable.

New Facebook bug may have exposed unposted photos

• FB said the bug may have exposed unposted photos from as many as 6.8 million users over a 12-day period

It said using Facebook login and granting permission to third-party apps to access photos may have led to the unintended lapse between September 13 and 25

"When someone gives permission for an app to access their photos on Facebook, we usually only grant the app access to photos people share on their timeline," engineering director Tomer Bar said in a message to developers.

"In this case, the bug potentially gave developers access to other photos, such as those shared on Marketplace or Facebook Stories." Bar added that the bug also impacted photos that people uploaded to Facebook but chose not to post -- in situations where someone uploads a photo but doesn't finish posting it, for example.

"We store a copy of that photo so the person has it when they come back to the app to complete their post," he said

"We're sorry this happened," he said. "Early next week we will be rolling out tools for app developers that will allow them to determine which people using their app might be impacted by this bug. We will be working with those developers to delete the photos from impacted users."

According to a Dubai-based Khaleej Times report, UAE-based company National Advisor Bureau plans to build an underwater rail network between Fujairah and Mumbai in the near future to provide high-speed rail travel between the two countries.

"This is a concept. We plan to connect Indian city of Mumbai with Fujairah through ultra-speed floating trains. The project aims to boost bilateral trade. There will be export of oil to India from Fujairah port and import of excess water from Narmada River, north of Mumbai. In addition, other GCC partners can also improve export and import," Khaleej Times quoted National Advisor Bureau MD and chief consultant Abdulla Alshehhi as saying.

According to the report, the total rail network will be around 2,000 km. Apart from passenger transit, Alshehhi said there are plans to facilitate the exchange of goods from India to UAE and export of oil through a pipeline as well.

Floating trains or 'Maglev' use magnet repulsion system to move the 'train' at a great speed taking advantage of the lack of friction. The high-speed Maglevs trains are currently under operations in China and Japan, but several countries like Australia, US, Israel and UK have plans to introduce the rail system.
